The last verses (Jer 20:13-14), Jeremiah was being ironic. At first, he indicated his belief that God will delivered him from this situation and he goes on saying that he had not been place in this position. As stated “Cursed be the day on which I was born! The day when my mother bore me let it not be blessed! Cure be the man who brought the news to my father saying ‘A child is born to you, a son,’ making him very glad” (Jer 20:14-15). Jeremiah was really upset and wished that he were never born or being a prophet. He blamed everyone who made him become who he was. This was the time Jeremiah felt really down and blamed God for everything. The language for these were not because he hated and want a punishment but because of the calling to God. Psalms give the form and pattern of expression for what we find in part of Jeremiah. Every sentence of both lament ends with the expression of complains. In Psalm’s lament, they share commonality such as addressing God by starting off the sentence with “O LORD.” It goes on by listing the grievances and asking for something for positive things that happening. Lastly, assuming that God will give them what they want and listen to their prayer because they have faith and confidence in it. In Jeremiah’s lament, he also addressed God, talk about his pain, complained directing to God and blaming him, asked for contributing for his enemy, and wishing that he were never
