How different types of transitions can affect children and young people’s development
There are two may types of transitions; expected and unexpected.
Expected transitions are things like starting a nursery, primary or secondary school as every child with go through an education system but that doesn’t mean it will be easy as a child is be introduced to a new environment with new rules so children will begin to learn new things which will expand their development. There is also puberty as children will begin to change so parents will have to talk to them about these changes but schools with also have “sex education” in which children are taught the same things that their parents have told them just in a more advanced version.

Children wo have a new sibling in their family will learn how to care for another person from a young age but they will often feel like they aren’t as loved as the new child but parents must show equal love and explain to the children that their new sibling will need a lot of looking after. Divorce can often have a horrible effect on children because some children may feel that it is their fault that their parents are getting divorced so can very often have low self-esteem. It can also affect their education as they may have to move area starting a whole new life or they may struggle to focus on work when everyone in the family is talking about what is going to happen to them when the divorce is finalised.
