Personal Narrative: The Only Traffic Experience In Anson County

Anson County, one of North Carolina’s qualifying rural counties. Far from the city and in the middle of the woods. Where there is nothing to do when I have free time. Where when trying to explain where Anson is located I always end by saying “it’s an hour and a half south from Charlotte.” Where the only traffic experience in Anson is around the holidays when countries north of us head south to the beach. And half of them have no idea of where they are at. However, this is where my family and I call home. There are six countries that make up Anson county. A city person may think, “this girl is standing in the road to take a picture, in the middle of the day. She’s going to get hit by a car.” However, this is not the case when in Anson. There are times when my family and I will go walking the street just to enjoy each other’s company in the quiet streets. This photograph was taken on a Friday around two o’clock, and I am standing in the middle of the street in Anson’s downtown area. My idea of Anson is in this same concept, I don’t miss Anson until I have returned from there. I’m not able to embrace the feeling of being home until I have returned to school and the feeling is gone.
Others may not consider how much their hometown means to them as an individual. An individual’s hometown is a piece of who they are as a person. Their hometown is where their life started and where they spent most of their life growing up. Having the historical knowledge about one’s hometown may not be important to some, but it can provide great insight into the lives of others. I encourage everyone to learn one fact about their hometown and judge for yourself if it was an eye opener for
