Have you ever heard of the Stanley Hotel? It is 142 room hotel that was built to resemble the colonial revival era. The hotel was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1905. He was told he wasn't going to have a lot of time left to live and needed fresh air. What better place to build a hotel for everyone to enjoy the fresh mountain air than Estes Park, Colorado. This story tells the time I visited this beautiful, mysterious, haunted hotel. It was just stunning! We walked in and went to the desk to check in and the front desk told us our room is on the second floor room 216. One door down from the room 217 which is known to be haunted. I suddenly wanted to go back home. I couldn't stay that close to that room, I was scared and that hotel didn't seem so beautiful now. But we quickly dumped off our luggage in our room and headed out to go do shopping in downtown Estes Park. There's all kinds of nice little shops, all kinds of restaurants that fill the streets with pizza, burgers, and fries. There's also a few little candy store and taffy shops. Oh man do they smell amazing! That evening we settled on eating at a little burger joint, id call it a greasy spoon but it was pretty good. After that we were booked from the long drive so we decided to call it a day. That means that we would have to go back to the hotel. When we finally got to our room it was really cold for some reason, the air conditioning was on even though it is a crisp 70 degrees in Estes Park. We turned it off wondering why it was even on.
