In the summer of 2005, my parents surprised us with a trip to Sandusky, Ohio. We were all slightly confused as to why Ohio was the destination but none the less we were extremely excited. In Sandusky there is an amusement park call Cedar Point, which houses one the tallest and fastest rollercoasters in the United States! We had all been to Disney World many times before and are a family that thoroughly enjoys the thrill of roller coasters. Everyone in my family was so excited and the Top Thrill Dragster was the topic of mostly all our conversations in the two weeks leading up to our road trip. My parents packed up the minivan with five kids and all of our belongings for 5 days, and we set out on our 11hour journey to the amusement park. I tried not to think about the terrifyingly gigantic and fast roller coaster and kept reminding myself that it is only one ride out of the hundreds we would be able to ride at the park. From one rest stop to the next I seemed to forget about my nerves and was getting so excited to arrive in Ohio and have a blast with my family. We played games like “I Spy” out of the car windows. “I spy something blue!” My sister Taylor would yell out. Everyone in the car started chiming in on what the blue item could be, “The sky! That car!” when finally, my dad yells “the welcome to New York sign!” We also had handheld video games and iPods to keep us occupied. Now that we were in New York my dad said with no traffic we would be there in about 7 hours, although that felt like forever. Finally, we have arrived in Sandusky, Ohio! And there it is.
