Interracial Relationships. Racism played a major role in United States history.In the short story “Désirée’s Baby”, Chopin tells a story about a white family having a black child. The father thinks the wife has black ancestry when it's really him with it. He cares more of what society thinks of him rather than his family. The things that racism caused in this world were horrible and i am strongly against it.Every human being in this world is made up of the same exact thing. If you had a bad reputation, then yes, it's understandable to be treated unfairly. But if somebody is innocent and you get treated unfairly, that's different. This is what made everything bad in that era. If somebody were to see skeletons of a black person and a white person, he/she wouldn't be able to tell to whom each skeleton belongs to. We act how we want. We don't act a certain way because of skin complexion. People apparently didn't know that we all have white bones. Many people appear to be white but are actually black. For example, Mariah Carey. She looks all out white when she's mostly black. Now this is what i do not understand. If Mariah Carey sang back then, would people have admired her like they do now? I do not understand what would make her different if she went back to the setting of the short story.
