Romeo and Juliet is a famous play written by William Shakespeare read by many 9th graders for decades. Two enemies meet and fall in love and in a matter of days they get married. As time goes on, the events that led up to their death is because of desperation. Firstly their love was blind, secondly they did not think it through “suicide, and finally Friar Laurence’s plan to stop Juliet’s marriage with Paris gets rushed. Desperation is to blame for their deaths. Firstly Romeo and Juliet did not think it through. Romeo and Juliet were wanted someone to love. “She refuses to be hit by Cupid’s arrow. She’s as clever as Diana, and shielded by the armor of chastity. She can’t be touched by the weak and childish arrows of love. She won’t listen to words of love, or let you look at her with loving eyes, or open her lap to receive gifts of gold. She’s rich in beauty, but she’s also poor, because when she dies her beauty will be destroyed with her,” (I.ii.200-205.) He was falling for Rosaline but she wouldn’t love him back. He was desperate for her love. Adding on R and J only loved each other for their looks. “Oh, I can’t believe the deepest evil lurked inside something so beautiful!” (III.ii.85). Comfort me. Counsel me, (III.IV.205-213). Juliet’s heart was for Romeo. There was no way she was going to marry Paris. She was to in “love” with Romeo. Friar had no choice but to rush the plan so Juliet could be with Romeo. People might say youth is to blame but here are reasons why it not. Romeo and Juliet were not the only ones that dies in the story. “The people in the street cry “Romeo,” some “Juliet,” and some “Paris,”: and all run, / With open outcry, toward our monument”, (IV.iii.191-193). Not only did R and J die, Paris died to. Other people who died were, Tybalt, Mercutio, and lady Montague. Tybalt is not in his teens and lady Montague is definitely not in her youth. Adding on, and equal amount of people died in each household. In act III Mercutio and Tybalt die. In act IV Paris, Romeo, and Juliet dies. And lastly also in act IV Lady Montague died. Romeo and Juliet’s death was caused by desperation. They first of all their love was blind. They “loved” each other for their looks. They truly did not know who they were.
