Anne Frank’s Development

“Our lives are fashioned by our choices. First we make our choices. Then our choices make us.” said Anne Frank. Anne's family and her family’s friends went into hiding from the Holocaust (Hitler, leader of Germany, killing millions of Jews just because he hated them and considered them not people) during WWII. With little space and food they had to learn to get along. Stuck there for two years they all developed and grew together even though it was difficult. The development of the character Anne Frank in “The Diary of Anne Frank” helps the reader understand the important events of the story.
The development of the character Anne Frank helps the reader understand the important events of the story because in the begging of the story Anne was really childish and immature. Anne being childish is shown when Anne takes Peters shoes but acts like she did not take them (pg 521 lines 585-589). This helps us understand the important events because it shows how in the beginning they were all new to each other and Anne didn’t get along with all at first but she was trying to by playing around. Anne became more mature after a while in the annex, and she even said it herself, she had saw a great change in herself (pg 546 lines 24-25). Anne was right because she was changing, changing through her actions, reactions, and the way she talked to the others. Anne Frank showed her great kindness when she had given everyone gifts during Hanukkah (pg 538 lines 1728-1734).
