In the American television series known as Dexter, the main character Dexter kills murderers based off a code that his father taught him. Law enforcement never caught the murderers while Dexter found all the evidence needed to prove who the murderers were. The way that Dexter gathers his evidence shows a procedure that gets results which mocks the justice system in real life. The results also mock the police since police cannot catch every murderer. Dexter killing these criminals ends up showing that lack of fair trials occurs. Dexter shows that the justice system does not work, police have limitations, and the death penalty should not be thought of so hastily. Dexter comments on the way that the justice system handles its evidence. The first episode of Dexter shows the justice system unable to hold a murderer due to an invalid search warrant. This provides insight as to what happens in the justice system involving murderers. Many cases occur where criminals get released due to invalid search warrants. Many episodes of Dexter show a murderer experience death. These deaths resemble death row inmates that end up being executed. Dexter kills without giving his victims any kind of a trial. This silently says that the death row inmates do not always get a fair trial. Many factors exist that could exonerate the death row inmates. Killing them means that evidence will not matter if shown to the public. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, there have been 1461 executions in the United States since 1976. If the 4.1% wrongfully convicted rate stands true, this means that 59 of those 1461 executions involved an innocent person.
