Cecily Strong is a comedian of the famous and popular show Saturday Night Live on NBC. She often works with her coworkers to made fun of what happening in the world. As a comedian, many of her jokes fall into the category of dry sarcasm. So, it is important to take that into consideration when watching the speeches she gives.
Motown was a transformative sound that arrived just at the height of the civil rights movement. Such success coming from a black business and black artists forced the rest of America to reexamine their racial prejudices that they still clung to. It seemed that it’s founder, Berry Gordy, knew from the start that Motown was something special when he hung a sign that read “Hitsville USA” above the recording studio’s headquarters. The success was almost instant for most Motown artists with song after song becoming number one hits on major music charts. However, the success was not easy, as it took strenuous amounts of work to mold the artist’s looks and sounds into something that would popularize them among the white population.
Hypnotist Dan Candell returned to the school on November 12th and students lined up at the doors as early as one hour before the show to snag the best seats in the auditorium. By 6:30 (half an hour before the start of the show) the bottom section of the auditorium was nearly filled to the brim with excited students. Parents, students, siblings, and even audience members from other schools waited anxiously for Dan Candell to take the stage and work his illusionary magic. The first few minutes of the show involved a few humorous stories, all of which involved past experiences Dan Candell had at his other shows, and then he tested everyone in the audience to determine whether they were visual learners or auditory learners to weed out who he would choose to hypnotize.

The Harlem Renaissance was an important event for the life of an African American. During this time, other people decided to give the African Americans a chance because they saw what talent the African American race had with music, art and sports. By giving them a voice, they finally had a chance to get the rights they deserved. After the Civil war, African Americans were free by law, but they still had to fight for almost everything they wanted. The African American group got so popular by their abilities in art, sports and music.
In our modern culture we memorialize a lot of things. Things like the achievements of great thinkers from the past such as Martin Luther King Jr. and the founding fathers. Other things that we memorialize are the wars that we have fought in the past, honoring those that fought in them. All of the previously mentioned things are put on a wall, given their own special place, or they have a statue made of them. These things are great and they show that those people did a great thing in their life but let’s be honest, we need to cut it back a little bit.

As most of you know they are trying to take down the rebel flag. All because of the guy who shot up the church in Charleston, South Carolina. What the government does not realize is that the confederate flag is a symbol of history. They’re saying that the flag is a symbol of racism. African Americans died for that flag, so no is it not a symbol of racism.
The world’s happiest place, a place where everyone and the kids want and need to go to, the place where families spend that valuable time together. #Going to Disney World is like unwrapping gifts on Christmas with family, friends, and loved ones. It’s a great feeling being able to go and experience that. Pick up a history book, flip through its pages, and find a section(s) dedicated to African Americans. There will be a supercut of slavery and a few inventors, enough to count on one’s hand. Ultimately, only the historical characters that are considered salient are provided, which are white educators, Presidents, legislators, advocates, inventors, etc. This issue engenders the remaining reason to advocate Black History Month. “Carter G. Woodson was the sole individual responsible for creating Negro History Week in Washington, D.C., in February 1926” (Edmondson).

To inform the audience of the many different places I went and activities that I did while in South Dakota. Thesis: My trip to South Dakota was the most memorable vacation I have been on because of the many marvels the landscape had to offer. It is a time to rest, reflect and rejuvenate, spend time with family and friends, and focus on the community around us. Observing Shabbat is meaningful because it allows us to not just engage in prayer and services, but to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life. Shabbat is also a time to remember and honor God's work of creation and show gratitude for the community I have supporting me.
