Diagnostic imaging is one of the services the physicians use to optimize the patient management. It is a physician’s privilege where s/he owns the authority to recommend, order, and analyze this kind of diagnostic method. Are the physiotherapists qualified enough to own the privileging of diagnostic imaging as the physicians? Does the literature support this issue? What about the regulations and legislations that support or refute the right of physiotherapist to be a privileged in using diagnostic imaging? Therefore, they position the physiotherapists to contribute in system evolving and adopt some roles which are beyond the traditional physiotherapy scope of practice Expanding the roles to be beyond the traditional scope of practice requires a continual educational level where the physiotherapist become a consultant or advanced practitioner as in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, US, and UK. The regulation varies in Canada in governing the ability and authority of the physiotherapist in ordering any kind of imaging. The professional legislation in New Brunswick allows the physiotherapist to order diagnostic imaging as MRI, CT, US, etc. However, the regulations that authorize ordering diagnostic imaging by physiotherapist is still underway in Ontario (Chong et al., 2015).
