Masses of people think that feminism is always and only about women seeking to be equal to men. And a huge majority of these folks think feminism is anti-male” (Hooks 1).
Questions:
Many people think feminism is anti-male because they don’t truly understand what feminism is. Since they don’t know what it is they don’t think there’s a problem. What is feminism and how can we educate others who don’t know what it is? Feminism is not anti-male so why do such a big majority of people believe it is? Finally, would more people be open to the ideas of feminism it conveyed one message instead of mixed/different ones?

Before reading these excerpts my knowledge about feminism has come from the mass media. Because of this I am only getting one view of feminism and it’s the story the media wants portrayed. Before I delved deeper into feminism I believed it was anti-male. One example is from what I’ve seen on Twitter. They have a meninist account and a feminist account. Basically, they just bash on the other sexes which shows hate to an audience that really doesn’t understand that actual movement behind these words. After seeing how the media portrays feminism an actual definition was surprising. According to Feminism: A Movement to End Sexism, feminism is a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression (Hooks 1).
