Diane Nash once said,Freedom by definition, is their people realizing that they are their own leaders.’’ Nash was a leader in the civil right right movement who worked for equality among all people she became a public civil right leader. Diane Nash was born on May 15,1938 to leon and dorothy nash.she grew up in a religious middle class family in chicago. During wwII her dad worked as a key punch operator. Her mom dorothy was also, a key punch operator. Her parents divorced. Her mom remarried john baker. Nash also, went to catholic and public schools and thought about becoming a nun. Nash was a secondary school teacher after she graduated from school and she studied english when she was in school and nash learned lots of things when she went to high school. She also,went to jail and well pregnant with her first child and the crime she committed was that she was teaching children non violent tactics. They arrested diane nash a age 21 for teaching children non violent tactics and that's how she went to jail for doing that and she was also, pregnant well being in jail for committing a crime at that age she was really young in that time. In other words,she got divorced from james bevel. Diane nash won several beauty contests when she was a teenager. In the age 22 she became the official leader of the sit ins it happened during 1960 in nashville.she led it with many postesters in thoughts times. when she was young and she refuse to pay the bills she had to pay in the protesting. She was sentenced when she was a teenager for sitting at a white lunch counter at a restaurant when she was young . she also, had a non-violente workshop when she lived in nashville.nash lived together with james bevel but that happened a long time ago when she lived in nashville
