“He killed me. Your uncle, Claudius, murdered me. Poison spilled in my ear. Avenge me, my son. But do not hurt your mother. Avenge me.” Hamlet sat up quickly, perspiring with sweat. His father’s shadowy figure had came into his dream. He was shivering when the cold air hit his skin. No, it couldn’t be, Hamlet thought. The shining that came through his condo blinded him. It was already seven in the morning. Hamlet rushed out of bed, tripping over his piles of clothes on the floor, and rushed into the bathroom. After putting on his tie, he headed out into his sleek, black mustang. It was only a couple of weeks ago that his mother married his uncle, which now his uncle is the CEO of Denmark Exchange, Inc. He looks around at the blossoming tulips and new yellow curtains. The plain vases were now replaced with intricate ones. His mother comes walking in gracefully. “Hello Hamlet, thank you for coming over. We must talk,” she said. Upstairs, Claudius and Polonius were discussing of the Fortinbras oncoming plan to take over Denmark Exchange, Inc in the library room. “Mother, let’s go into the library,” Hamlet requested. As Claudius left the room, Polonius was stacking his papers when he heard Hamlet’s and Gertrude’s voices. He quickly shoved himself behind the curtains. As soon as Hamlet and his mother goes into the room, Gertrude explains, “ Hamlet, you have gone too far with your pranks.” Hamlet spits out, “Me, mother? Me? Look at you! You’re the one who’s sleeping with your husband’s brother! That despicable and murderous devil!” He grabs her forearms and shakes her hard. “You sleep in his greasy bed. Do you not have any respect for father?!” Hamlet shouts. Gertrude, feeling guilty and frightened, screams, “Stop it! I will not hear anymore of your nonsense!” The late Hamlet’s ghost appears and tells Hamlet to calm it down. “Your duty was not to scare your mother. It is to take revenge for me. Leave your mother be,” the late Hamlet says. Just then, Polonius says, “What’s happened?!” Hamlet thought it was Claudius who was snooping on them and pulls out his gun and shoots at the curtains. The party seemed normal until Laertes asked him to drink a couple of beers with him. Laertes handed Hamlet a can but he refused, and then Laertes called out, “Chicken! What are you scared of Hamlet?” “Oh, don’t pressure him. I’ll take it,” Gertrude said as she took a swig of the poisoned drink. Claudius gasped and looked away. The adrenaline rushed through Laertes, and without thinking, he swung a strong fist at Hamlet’s jaw. The pop of the jaw created a clearing of the patio. Hamlet ran into the stomach of Laertes and took them both down. Hamlet threw punches at Laertes face; suddenly, Gertrude fell on the floor, clawing at her throat whispering, “Murder. Murder.” Laertes took out a needle and sunk it into the slope of Hamlet’s neck. Hamlet bent Laertes hand over and grabbed the needle to only stab it into Laertes shoulder, releasing the last of the poisonous liquid. Laertes plopped back onto the ground and with a throaty voice, “Claudius, Claudius had set this all up. He wanted me to kill you.” His eyes started to drift away and eventually closed. Hamlet slowly turned his gaze to Claudius. “Go, go with my mother,” Hamlet said as he raised the gun towards Claudius. In a split second, the bullet went straight through Claudius’s forehead, leaving a trail of red blood running down the bridge of his nose.
