Diary of a wimpy kid: Greg I really don’t know who else who could be the main character. Greg is a kid who can’t ever have a good day in his books due to this in almost every book or every day something goes right to wrong. Greg one day told his mom to get a “journal not a diary” sadly seeing the title you can guess his mom didn’t listen and as such he now has a diary that allows people to pick on him more. Greg though seems to be a little selfish at time, thinks he’ll be famous one day, can’t really understand the things that happen to him, and thinks his family is a little crazy at times.
From the outset, I have to say that “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger has been one of the most important and influential pieces of literature I have ever read. At its core, the book is a superb coming of age novel which discusses several extremely powerful themes such as the difficulties of growing up, teenage angst and alienation and the superficiality, hypocrisy and pretension of the adult world. These themes resonated deeply with me and were portrayed excellently through the use of powerful symbolism and the creation of highly relatable and likable characters. One such character is Holden Caulfield whom the story both revolves around and is narrated by.
“So he became a philosopher- someone who does not give up but tirelessly pursues his quest for truth” (Gaarder 68). Throughout the novel, “Winnie-the-Pooh” by Ernest H. Shepard, Pooh strives to solve all of his problems with his ability to reason and think rationally. Pooh is a philosopher as he constantly searches for answers and analyzes situations with his remarkable insight. He can be compared to Socrates, a philosopher who stressed the importance of human reasoning and believed that the right insight led to the right action. Like Socrates, Pooh has great insight and also acknowledges that he knows very little.
I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how all patient share a commonality called vulnerability. In the movie Wit, you are allowed a peek into the medical world that shows disregard for humanity. The film revolves around an English professor, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment, and how her professional status is taken away for being a patient. A major theme of this movie is dependency on others by chronicling Vivian 's trial treatment and it allows the viewers a peek into the world of a patient dying from cancer. After watching the film, I noticed that there were a lot of significant moral issues, which correlates with the nursing profession.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a masterful novel that dives into the life of Scout as a child. In the novel, Lee goes into much depth about Scout’s life so that the reader can always keep up with what is happening. When a book is converted into a movie, many things often change no matter what book it is. This remains true for To Kill a Mockingbird between the book and the film. The film is a wonderful work but there were still many things cut out that were in the book.
