This social camouflage is destroyed when Greg’s mother gets hit with the ingenious
A song that connects to the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is I How to Save a Life by the Fray. This song shows the theme of losing a friend and not being the same. When the song says “I lost a friend” it is relating to the Greaser’s and mainly Ponyboy when Johnny died in the hospital. In the beginning of the book when Pony was describing all the Greasers he said that Johnny was like the gang’s pet, everyone’s kid brother. Another thing Ponyboy said that Johnny would never have known what love and affection were without the gang.
The book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Double Down is about a kid named Greg Heffley. Greg is currently in his first middle school. The thugs looked over to find where the howling was coming from and Lemon Brown lunged himself at them, causing himself to roll down the stairs. The thugs went outside of the house and after awhile they left. After seeing how much Lemon Brown adored his treasures, Greg realized that his dad caring so much for him meant everything. Greg now appreciates the lectures about decisions he was trying to make. Greg’s treasure was his relationship with his father all because of Lemon Brown’s story.
Bad things happen to good people. A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is a story about the orphans that are in a bad situation. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire parents died in a fire while Count Olaf is trying to steal their fortune. They escaped Count Olaf and got to safety for a little. They learned that bad things happen to good people too.
In the book I read SLAM! By Walter Dean Myers at the beginning of the chapter. The dad was mad because Greg has a tutor now and the dad doesn’t think the son need a tutor. Also the dad is mad at Greg because he knows that Greg can do the work but Greg doesn’t make it palatable with his mind he wants to be stubborn and joke off in class and is lazy with his school work. Then when school was over Greg went down to 135th street to talk to Ice Mtisha’s cousin about them being friends again.
‘The Demon Shark: II Predator or Prey?’ embodies the ecocriticism literary nature of ‘The Boy Behind the Curtain’ with Tim Winton maintaining a ruthless frontier attitude to the preservation of the environment by pointing out the unfair “[routine vilification]” of sharks, which has led to most of them “[disappearing] globally without an outcry”. In this particular passage, Winton disapproves of the media variously describing the shark as “a terrorist” and “an insidious threat”, even though we are “far more likely to die on the toilet”, or in a car accident, or from a bee sting than from a shark encounter. Winton draws parallels between the prejudice against sharks and discrimination in human society, influencing my creative response regarding
So later on that day, Greg meets an old man named lemon brown. While he was talking to lemon brown and about his past. Greg changes his mind about not caring about his grades and what it means to him. In the end, he realizes that a treasure worth can be know by the people who care.
In the realistic short story “ Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto, the main character named Victor, is desperate. Because he tries very hard to get a girlfriend, he finds many ways to be with his crush Teresa, and because he does embarrassing things to try and impress girls. The first reason Victor is desperate is because he tries hard to get a girlfriend. For instance, he promised himself “Teresa is going to be my girl this year”. In addition, Victor took Michael’s advice and used his (ridiculous) “strategy” on how to “get girls” by scowling at them.

Even though Gregory did not do what she claims he did, Gregory decides not to tell Mrs. Wessex who spit the spitball on her book. Determined to get back at Mrs. Wessex, at recess he tells the kids that he is going to make
Greg is trying to find his way through his middle school life the entire book. He begins to learn about his development and how he is just being the puberty process. Through situations, family involvement and life experiences he develops the forty developmental assets for adolescents. If I was Greg’s teacher I would get to know him on a personal level to make him feel like he can talk to me about anything. What I noticed throughout the book is that Greg does not have an adult role model that will listen to him.
Once her anger passed, Bonnie would usually apologize to her son, but after a time, Greg didn’t even hear it anymore” (Anderson 42). This quote identifies that the life he has at home is never the way he expected it to be and he always got into fights with his parents. When Anderson said, “his mother would rip into him about something- his grades, his appearance, his choice of friends,” it helped me understand the reason why Greg acts the way he does. His mother would constantly find a reason to make him feel less of himself; not being
Afterwards, Greg's mom tells him to donate a toy at the police station. On his way back he looks for the envelope of money he requested in the church driveway. Greg ends up shuffling all the snow out of the driveway and appears in the newspaper as a "Do-Gooder." This how Greg deals with the police and being trapped with his family in the house.
