Sometimes we don't realize how important freedom is until it is gone. Could you imagine being isolated from the world for two and a half years? Could you handle not leaving the building? In the novel, Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. Anne and her family are forced to go into captivity to avoid being captured and tortured by the Nazis. Anne and her family were simply enjoying their life and the freedom that came with it until all the happiness suddenly disappeared. On Anne's thirteenth birthday she received many presents, one including a diary which played a very important role in her life. The Frank's moved into the "Secret Annexe", but were unsure if they had fled too late. However, this had to be done if the Jews wanted to survive the Nazis. Then, the Jews were getting worked up about snooping warehouse workers, thieves, and invasions of the Annexe. The Frank's did not known how much longer it would be until they gained their freedom back. As of now Anne was going to keep on writing in her diary and being her smart and stubborn self. Anne and many other Jews lived all throughout Germany during World War 2 until an anti-jew dictator, Hitler, took over. Jews were taken to concentration camps and tortured until death. Luckily her family went into hiding at just the right time.On Anne's last birthday with actual freedom, she receives a diary which gets her through anything thrown at her. It is her only true voice. "I want to bring out all kinds of things that are buried deep in my heart." Anne and her family had to move into hiding to avoid being captured, tortured, and killed by the Nazis. It is a scary feeling every night knowing they may not wake up in the same place. "I wish like anything that one of out protectors could sleep here
