In “The Diary of Anne Frank” the setting takes place in the 1940’s in Amsterdam, Netherlands in a secret annex. The plot of the true story is that a 13 year old girl and her family have to hide from the German soldiers because they were hunting all Jewish people to capture and send them to concentration camps. After 2 years of hiding they were eventually caught be the Green Police and were taken to concentration camps. The main characters are Anne Frank, Mr. Frank, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel. The mood of the story is depressing and frightful for their experience throughout the story. After viewing two of the stories they had many similarities and differences that were crucial to the plot

One difference is that at the end of the movie Miep picked up her journals that the German soldiers threw on the ground, this did not happen in the book. They might have excluded this scene because we don’t know what actually happened after the family was taken. In the book, Mr. Van Daan steals bread in the middle of the night but this did not happen in the movie. In the movie, Miep and Mr. Kraler pushed a bookcase in front of the door so if the German soldiers came, it would be harder for them to get in. In the book they heard the robber downstairs while in the main living room, but in the movie they were all gathered on the stairs. They might have changed this scene because they wanted to make it more alarming to the family and the audience. In the book they celebrated New Year's Eve with a cake that Miep brought, but in the movie they never celebrated this holiday at all. In the story it never mentioned that Anne and Peter went up in the attic, but in the movie they spent most of their time in the
