Anne Frank was a young, courageous, and free spirited girl. She overcame difficulties she had and tried to make the best of her situation. She found little bits of good in the world even when it seemed like there was none. She tried to stay positive and talked about after the war what she would do with her life. She will always be remembered for her couragesness. Anne was a young girl when the war started, she had thought she would make it through the war. She talks about what she wanted to do once the war had ended. “I know what I want, I have a goal, I have opinions, a religion and love. If only I can be myself, I’ll be satisfied. I know that I’m a woman, a woman with inner strength and a great deal of courage!” All throughout her diary she shows bravery, courageousness, and calmness. Especially Anne who was a teenager definitely wanted her independence. “I leap out of bed, think to myself, “You’ll be slipping back under the covers soon,” walk to the window, take down the blackout screen, sniff at the crack until I feel a bit of fresh air, and I’m awake. I strip the bed as fast as I can so I won’t be tempted to get back in.” Even though Anne is only getting to feel a glimpse of the world outside of the Annex it is more than that to her. She has been kept inside for so long for her safety and every morning she finds that little bit of freedom in opening the window just the slightest bit. The will to survive, something all human beings instinctively have, some are just better at than others. “When I think about our lives here, I usually come to the conclusion that we live in a paradise compared to the Jews who aren’t hiding.” Everyone that lived in the Annex had a strong will to survive.
