Dickinson Dining Hall Observation Paper

On September 25th and 26th, we observed several groups in the Dickinson dining hall (C4) during dinner hours. There were around 40-50 humans present. The dining hall offers several long tables toward the middle of the room and other smaller tables along the perimeter. The lighting was bright, encouraging an upbeat mood (unlike if the lights were dimmed which would bring a more relaxed mood). The room was noisy with talking and laughing. Recognizing human social groups: Social groups can be defined by looking at a combination of the sex composition and number of individuals present. Even someone sitting alone can be categorized as a social group (Solitary Forager). The other groups consist of One-Male One-Female Group, One Male-Multifemale Group,
