A Prejudiced Opinion In the article, “No, I Do Not Want To Pet Your Dog,” the writer, Farhad Manjoo, paints a vivid picture about the issues that dogs cause in our community. In this article, he claims there is “a cultural assumption that everyone must love dogs” (10). I disagree. He paints a world where dogs run rampant through the streets causing trouble and mayhem where ever they go.
In fact, Clair spends a great deal of the book uncertain about whether she even likes Danny, more often than not pointing out his flaws and personality quirks that make her cringe rather than spending time on what she finds to be redeemable qualities. It isn’t until the end of the novel, when things take a turn for the worse, that she begins to truly feel sympathy for Danny and his situation. "To them, a dog was just another thing, like a barbecue grill or a fancy porch rocker, and it didn 't mean that they didn 't love the dog, it just meant they didn 't recognize a dog for what it was and what it needed." Anyone who loves stories with animals, or loves stories that touch your heart, or basically just loves stories in general, needs to pick up a copy of Monninger’s Whippoorwill. You’ll be a more compassionate person for reading it, not just to animals, but to the human condition.

In both Jonathan Foer's My Life as a Dog and Dave Barry's Guys vs. Men, the authors write about a specific group and present their characteristics, but in very different ways. In the beginning of My Life as a Dog, Foer describes what it is like to be a dog living in New York, but the main idea seems to be the relation between humans and animals and how they, "make us feel, in the best sense of the word, human"(248). Foer explains that human relations with animals, specifically dogs, seems to be better when we are children, and when we become adults we tend to be more cruel to animals. Foer's exact words are: It is children, very often, who want dogs.
The novel Beloved by Toni Morrison fundamentally relies on the relationship between the former slave Sethe and the daughter she murdered as an infant, only known to the reader as Beloved. In one scene, Beloved is attempting to make Sethe feel guilty as Sethe argues that her attempted murder of her children was out of love, and that she intended for them to be “together on the other side.” Beloved’s response, in which she points out that, after she “died,” “ghosts without skin stuck their fingers in her and said beloved in the dark and bitch in the light,” shatters the intensely loving, devoted tone that Sethe attempts to establish in favor of a more dramatic, graphic tone and creates intense juxtaposition, a device which is continually used throughout the text. (254) The phrase “ghosts without skin,” overall, exemplifies Beloved’s immature perspective.
It also was great support to his argument. Manjoo explains that both dogs and his son don’t act in a socially acceptable way. He loves his son and despises dogs and touches on how people get more annoyed with the parent of a misbehaving child than the owner of a misbehaving dog. His point in this comparison is to prove that he makes an effort not to disturb those around him while proving himself not impartial.
Candy's dog eventually gets shot for no reason, other than the fact that the others do not like him. The dog was hated by the other men living on the farm. The sense of feeling that others do not like you is one of the main contributes to lonliness in the world today. Steinbeck attempts to allow readers to recognize this, and change their actions and words towards others to prevent this lonely state in
Madison Bumgarner Mrs. Gallos English III Honors 22 March 2018 Is Your Service Dog Legally Certified? Even though many people believe emotional support dogs are considered service dogs and should have the same rights as the others, owners of service dogs are treated unfairly because of the increase in numbers of fake service dogs. This affects the ability for one to use a service dog to its full potential. People cannot be asked to leave a public place if the business thinks it is a fake dog because some service dogs are simply under-trained. The population of those using fake service dogs or emotional support animals are ruining the ability for the disabled to use them without being questioned.
Pet owners say that they will take care of their pets no matter what. Bilger’s argument is that people’s love for their pets has gone too far. Although Bilger is incorrect because some people use the money to help their pets, he is primarily correct because people spend their money on stuff their pets don’t need and how some pets are forced to endure more than they have to. I concede that bilger is wrong because In “The Last Meow” the Leverings were willing to spend 15,000 dollars on their cat Lady to help her. Shawn Levering said “If Lady comes through this thing alive, I won’t think about it twice.”

The ASPCA revealed that there is no evidence that shows how breed-specific laws make communities safer for people or companion animals, these laws are costly and extremely difficult to enforce.

(Against Bringing Dogs to Work)

In the text, “Hachiko, The Story Of A Loyal Dog” in paragraph 16 there was a sentence that gave a great example of the loyalty between a dog and a human. Hachiko, the dog, would sit at the station everyday and wait, even though his owner, Dr. Uneo, was never coming back. After weeks, months, and even years, Hachiko had been waiting for his owner at the station. He was so loyal to his owner, that he
