In 1969, there was a doctor named Malcolm Sayer who was really determined to look for a cure for encephalitis lethargic. He then discovered a beneficial drug L-dopa. He finds out some motivation that the patient with the said disease can overcome their catatonic state. One of the patient named Leonard Lowe,that still in catatonic stage communicates with Dr. Sayer using Ouija board. Dr. Sayer attempt to use L-dopa drugs to Leonard. The drugs became the subject in the conference. After the attempts, Leonard totally arouses. Dr, Sayer was determined and inspired by the success of L-dopa drugs. He then asked for funds so that other patient who suffer with the same disease like Leonard can take the L-dopa medication and awaken them. Leonard enjoy being a normal person and do whatever he wants. Leonard admire Paula and asked Dr, Sayer for complete freedom. But Dr. Sayer still thinks for Leonard’s safety. Meanwhile, Dr, Sayer and other staff at the hospital finds out that the the cure is for temporary only. Leonard starting to experience the catatonic stage again. He accept the fact and he informed Paula that he was about to leave. Everything went back to the old one. Where the patient still in catatonic stage. Sayer was asking for a fund and we hate the doctor that he asked for, because he seems like he’s not interested about the proposal of Dr. Sayer. But then the staff suddenly wrote check of donation for him to help the encephalitis lethargica patients and placed it at the top of the table in font of the two doctors. We love the scenario wherein Leonard accept the fact about his disease. He meet up with Paula and told her that she might not gonna see him again anymore because of he was about to leave. Paula felt his care and love so she held his hand and try to dance with him so that Leonard wont feel down, she tries to cheer up
