In this essay, I want to show that Mr. Keating was not the cause of Neil Perry's death and the recklessness of the boys during the movie. Mr. Keating was an English teacher at Welton Academy. He was not like most, making learning fun for the boys. Helping students come out of their shells. Most, if not, all, of his students loved him. Let me explain why Mr. Keatings is innocent of the crimes they accused him of committing by the school. One student Mr. Keating had is named Todd Anderson. Todd started as shy and blend in by following the role. Todd didn’t do one of Mr. Keating's assessments, which was to write a poem. Mr. Keating had him do an exercise in front of the class. He was a senior at Welton Academy, an all-boys school. Neil did not dare to stand up to authority figures like his father. His father was forcing Neil to drop things he enjoyed because it would not get him to Harvard; the reason his dad wanted Neil to go to Harvard was o he could become a doctor. Even though Neil wanted to be an actor, he had no say in what happened that was all on this Father. Neil would go against his father and try out for a play in the local public school because it was open tryouts. In the Shakespeare plays A Midsummer Night's Dream, Neil as Puck says looks at his father, “If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber’d here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream, Gentles, do not reprehend: if you pardon, we will mend: And as I am an honest Puck, If we have unearned luck Now to ‘scape the serpent’s tongue, We will make amends ere long; Else the Puck a liar call; So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends And Robin shall restore amends.” After the play, Neil’s Father grabs Neil and takes him home. They enter the study. Neil’s father tells him he will no longer be attending Welton Academy, instead, they will enroll him into a milliary school, then he would go to Harvard to become a doctor no choice.
