Community college is something to which people should pay close attention while reading because it appears more than once throughout the text. The paper will be based on college and its importance, and the words community college mean a two-year college where people can go to get a feel for college or to get their start.
A lot of people want to learn, but don’t think that going to a university is right for them. This may be for financial reasons or just because they think that it’s too much for them. This is where community colleges come in. Instead of focusing on finances or background, they accept people and teach them where they’re at. This is similar to the speech made by Sir Ken Robinson called “Changing Education Paradigms” when he talks about the education system needing to change their priorities.
Community college has been a blessing for lower income students such as myself, but, the way it stands right now is the way it should remain. These colleges are often more affordable than four-year institutions and can be a good option for students who want to save money or who are not yet sure what they want to study. Higher education is problematic because it is not designed for all students. It is expensive, can cause debt, and the probability of a degree will be useless. A two-year degree is much quicker than a four- year, although the world only focuses on four-year colleges. Two-year colleges are primarily focused on pre-requisites for a major at a four-year school. Attending a two-year college can save money, and it will give the student a faster time to start their career with little or no debt.
Former president of South Africa Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Therefore, young adults should endeavor to remove every impediment that would hinder them from going to college, regardless of whether it be a university or a community college. There are many differences between a community college versus a four year university. However, either path will lead individuals to a degree that will further their future opportunities. Students should think about which choice is better for them and which opportunity will best help them achieve their goals.
Many students of community colleges including myself qualify for federal student aid. In many cases this government assistance covers the full price of admission to the college. As the month of November comes along annually, every single high school senior is forced to decide which path they are going to take after graduating. For some, it is easy to choose which college to attend and how to pay for it. But, for many, it is extremely difficult to figure out a way to get the funds for college. In the United States a community college is defined as a nonresidential junior college offering courses to people living in a particular area. They are post secondary schools and are also referred to as junior colleges, vocational or technical schools because generally the course of study is for two years. The student can earn an associates degree or certification and/or continue their education by transfering to a four year college to complete their educational pursuits and earn a Bachelor 's degree. Community colleges started in the late 1800’s and have grown and evolved over the years. Today many four year colleges and universities have become so expensive to attend that many prospective students are opting for the more affordable alternative of a community college for their first two years of study where they can save money by living at home and taking classes that will transfer to a four year institution, however, there are students that cannot afford the lower cost of community colleges.
Every student, after he or she graduates from high school will have the choice of attending to a University or a two year Community College. I remember Lee, my friend Joe’s brother, asking me after I finished high school and whether or not I wanted to join to a University or a two year Community College. At the time, it took me a week to answer his question. Similarly, if I was to ask any student where he or she wants to go after they finish high school, one might find that they’ll receive different answers, and for different reasons. For some students it is best to go to community college and focus on getting an Associate’s Degree or taking transferable courses.

College provides students with an education, award students with degrees and open doors for job opportunities. There are two different types of college, which are traditional and online. Online learning requires more self-direction. Online learner won’t have the same experience as students in traditional classes.
Picking to attend a Community college for me is the best choice that I picked for my education. Community colleges provide a great service to students in many more ways other than just education. They help students who are unsure what they want to do or are unable to attend a four year university. Community Colleges also provide continuing education even after they have gotten a degree and a job.
