What is the difference between Confederation vs. Constitution? Confederation was the original 13 states of the United States of America constituted under the Articles of Confederation and superseded by the more formal union established in 1789 (2014). The Articles of Confederation was the first successful effort of organizing and mobilizing the original thirteen colonies of the United States (July 2, 2014). America was prior to this deemed subversive to the Crown of England viewed pretty much the same was a todays terrorism. Constitution can mean "make laws" and a constitution is a "how-to" document for a government or organization (2014). The constitution was created as a strong central government. Voting power was delegated between the states. Committees of two to seven people each voted on the Confederation were as the constitution allowed singe votes. The United States was weak and was unable to seek the assistance of the other foreign governments making them weak against the British. Confederation in each state only had one vote in the congress, regardless of the size, the congress didn’t have the power to tax or to interstate commerce. They had no executive branch to enforce any of acts that were passed by the congress. Amendments to the Article of Confederation required limited voting on how many people were able to vote (July 2, 2014). The laws required a 9/13 was the requirement for the law to pass in congress. The American Constitution was adopted in 1789 and this replace the Confederation permanently. This was a more expansive system of governance. This created the checks and balances amongst the three branches of government. This helped with the relationship of the Federal Government and the states. This started change that would continue to change from year to year. If we had to choose between Constitution or Confederation I would choose Confederation we would be allowed to have more freedom as well as britain ,we would be able to become less involved with the government or their colonies, it was time consuming and expensive. It was time for the colonies to become more independent with each other. If we had the rights with Confederation our colonies would be able to grow new railroads and roads, which cost a great deal of money. They’re pros and cons with Confederation for an example it would give us more freedom but at the same its a con because we would have more taxes and more money then have to pay
