Conspiracy theories and witchcraft have often been misunderstood. To some conspiracy theories give the ability to make sense of the unexplainable. Interpretation was one of the main concepts in the books by Barkun and Gaskill. Both books took place in modern times at northern California discussing conspiracy theories and witchcraft. The interpretation that is placed on both categories has defined how the world views them. Nonetheless, the world view need not form how we view it. The books by Barkun and Gaskill take place in modern times from 1935-2001 in Northern California. American civilization altered after the events of a terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001 in New York City. The aftermath of 9/11 increased conspiracy theories the interpretation of these theories was the government was withholding information from the public. The interpretation of conspiracy belief is an organization is believed to be covert operation with malicious intention. (Barkun Pg. 3) Conspiracy theorist believe that these organizations can influence individuals and the public. The main principle that is amongst conspiracy theorist is nothing happens by accident. The interpretation of this main principle implies that occurrences that are considered accidents or coincidence does not exist. (Barkun pg. 3-4) Many conspiracy theorist gather evidence that verifies the claims of the conspiracy theorist. The interpretation of the material being provided reveals the evidence must have been overlooked by conspirator’s control, and it provides an inside view in the organization.
