During his presidency, he reduced the debt by $23 million. Many years before Jefferson became president, the Barbary states had sent pirates to attack and capture European and American ships, cargo, and sailors. Preble’s fiery temper and aggressive ambitions proved to be enough to whip the U.S. Navy into shape. With Preble’s help, America was able to regain control of the blockade dividing them from Tripoli.
Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists Federalists were mostly merchants, bankers manufacturers, and wealthy farm owners. They basically owned land or some type of property and were well-educated. Most of these people lived in urban areas. Anti-Federalists were mostly artisans, shopkeepers, frontier settlers, and poor farmers. They were mostly uneducated and illiterate and most of them lived in rural areas.
Let’s start by saying both John Adams and George Washington did an outstanding job at pulling things together during the time of the American revolution. George Washington was the first president of our country John Adams was the sixth president both men heavily supported Federalists. Both Washington and Adam sacrificed their lives for this country. But John Adam and George Washington did have Their differences which I do think made them quite competitive among one another. Washington was a Virginian a southerner and slave owner.
Before I state my opinion, I must lay out the two opposing sides between the federalists and the anti Federalists. To put it simply, federalists were people who supported the ratification of the constitution. On the other side of the spectrum the anti-Federalists were people who opposed the ratification of the constitution. If I was living in the in the 1780’s I probably would have voted and supported the ratification of the constitution. I am the type of person that wants a strong and unified central government.
