The bullfrog and the crayfish are similar and different in many different ways. To start off the crayfish is in the phylum arthropoda, they are invertebrates, and they can be classified as a cheliped which is a shellfish with one large claw and one tiny claw. Bullfrogs are in the phylum chordata and they are vertebrates. Both animals can be found in streams and ponds but bullfrogs can also be found in marshes but crayfish cannot. Bullfrogs reproduce externally which is when the egg is fertilized outside the female's body and then they drop off egg sacks full of tiny tadpoles. So the food enters the mouth of the bullfrog and is crushed up so it is easier to swallow. Then it goes through the pharynx and then to the esophagus where it is pushed down to the stomach. That is where digestive enzymes start to break down the food. The food then goes to the pyloric region and the duodenum which are the two parts of the small intestine. In the duodenum, most of the nutrients are sucked out of the food. Following the duodenum, the food goes to the large intestine where the rest of the nutrients are taken out. Next, it goes to the rectum and finally to the cloaca where the waste is sent out of the body. The crayfish has a shorter digestive system than the bullfrog. First the food enters the mouth and then goes to the esophagus where it is pushed down to the first part of the stomach. The first part of the stomach is the cardiac stomach which holds chitinous teeth which grind up the food even more than it has been in the mouth. Then it goes to the pyloric region which is the second part of the stomach where nutrients are sucked out of the food. Then the food is pushed to the digestive land where the rest of the food is processed. It is then moved to the rectum where it is pushed out of the body.
