Some include the U.S.As differences of opinion from England which lead to the American Revolution. Leaving last week’s class, my mind was darting in all sorts of directions. While the “Eyes on the Prize” excerpt gave me a concrete understanding of the historic events of the desegregation of Little Rock High School, “Little Rock Central High: 50 Years Later” brought up all sorts of observations and questions on race in America that I hadn’t necessarily thought to address before. I think these two films were particularly interesting to view back to back because of their difference in style, content, and execution. After the development of the railroad system, many different groups of people had the ability to travel to South Dakota more easily. Once settlers were able to reach South Dakota they began setting up towns with stores, churches, and schoolhouses. The book, One-Room Country School: South Dakota Stories, is a compilation of testimonies from the teachers and students who attended these schoolhouses spread across the state. The various teachers and students who shared their stories came from many different areas of the world throughout many eras.
Billy Collins appropriately created the title “Schoolsville” for this poem. The title is broken down and is imagined by readers of a little town occupied by former students who still act as they did in high school. From the beginning line, it is clear to the reader that the speaker is reminiscing his past by “glancing over my shoulder at the past,” (Collins 534). By stating, “I realize the number of students he has taught is enough to populate a small town,” also adds to the image created by the title (Collins 534). The speaker has taught so many years that his former students could populate a town.
Find similarities between Lizabeth's environment at the start and end of the story. The begging of the story Lizabeth is sitting on a bench at the Reformatory. At the ending of the story she is with the matron lady driving up from the city to the Reformatory. In both the start and end of the story the matron lady is with Lizabeth.
Both Socs and Greasers go to the same school, though they are more Socs than greasers because some greasers had dropped out. They live in the same neighborhood, just on separate sides of town. With all the fighting between Socs and Greasers, some Greasers and Socs have peace with each other and don’t fight such as the Socs, Cherry Valance with all the greasers. Cherry is a popular Socs and cheerleader who began hanging out with all the Greasers when she met Ponyboy and Johnny at the movie house. Even though Cherry hangs out with mostly Greasers she still has friendships with some Socs in her neighborhood.

Riverbend High School and Woodrow Wilson High School have both similarities but also, many differences. For starters, Woodrow Wilson High has a very low budget, therefore, the school isn't able to afford essential school supplies such as books, calculators and definitely no means of having technology. Meanwhile, Riverbend High has all the essential needs , even chromebooks, computers and smartboards. Although there are many more differences between the two schools, one similarity is that both schools have teachers that care about us. In the year 1800, the United States was a fragile new republic with many issues yet to resolve. Perhaps one of the greatest struggles facing this new nation was conflicting views on were government power should lie. The election of 1800, between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, was a bitter contest that turned these two friends into enemies, and changed the course of America’s election process and the party system as we know it. Topic 1: Enrolling at Central Catholic High School was a significant risk that has made me a more confident person. I came from a public K-8 where I knew every student since kindergarten. My friends were all going to Grant High School, but that was not the path I wanted to take. I knew that I wanted the academic challenge Central Catholic could give me as a college preparatory high school.
