The cities of the United States, not to mention the world, have many similarities and differences. Arizona alone has very different places. Humans find what works and tend to stick to that. They like to create patterns, allowing the brain to categorize more easily. This is especially true when it comes to planning complex things like cities. There are many similarities and differences between Phoenix and Overgaard regarding weather, things to do, businesses, and people.

In Overgaard, cloudy skies are usually a sign of rain. Hail is common as temperatures begin to drop around the fall months. Unlike Phoenix, Overgaard gets snow in the winter. The weather effects most of the things a person can do in a city.
The differences and similarities between Phoenix and Overgaard regarding things to do is startling. In both cities, people can go to the park when they get bored. Although, there are many more parks in Phoenix than in Overgaard. The park’s size also varies depending on where it is in the city of Phoenix. Movies are another thing the two have in common. However, Overgaard gets movies considerably later than Phoenix does.
In Phoenix, there is a larger variety of things that a person can do. Phoenix has zoos, aquariums, amusement parks, water parks, and more. The city is fairly spread out. It has a lot more nature orientated things for people to do. Overgaard has a couple large lakes that someone can go fishing at. They also have hiking and a plethora of dirt roads for off-road vehicles to explore. The Gentry Tower is a very popular place. It is open for people to climb the stairs to the top and look out over the forest. There are also local fairs and festivals. Horseback riding is common due to the number of ranches. Hunting season is another big thing in Overgaard. Many of these things help support or are run by the businesses of both cities.
The differences between the businesses of both cities are starker in comparison to the similarities. Restaurants are similar in the types of food available. However, in Overgaard they are mainly run by the family who owns the restaurant. Most of the stores are thrift stores or antique shops. There are not very many big businesses in Overgaard. The only two stores that are part of a chain are the Dollar General and the 99-cent store. The other businesses are all small family run
