Introduction Do you want to learn more about the American and French Revolutions? The American and French Revolutions were both different and the same in many ways. They were both trying to end some type of political differences but the differences they were trying to end weren’t all that similar. The issues from the taxation on both Americans and French is what officially started both Revolutions. The taxation on the French got raised because King Louis XVI ran out of money causing him to raise taxes. The reason he had run out of money was that the French treasury was nearly empty when he ascended to the throne. If he hadn’t raised taxes he wouldn’t have met the expenses of everything like running the Government machinery and maintaining an army so he was forced to raise the taxes. The taxes on the Americans were raised because of the 7-year war. The seven-year war started in 1765 and ended in 1763. After the seven-year war, the British Government was burdened by heavy debts. The heavy debts caused British prime minister George Grenville to enforce the law more strictly and also reduce duties on sugar and molasses.
