Period 8 “Leadership is not about titles, position, or work hours. It's about relationships.”, says Jim Kouzes. It is safe to indicate that the protagonists of both “The Odyssey” and “Oh Brother where art thou” have many qualities of leadership qualities that are adapted throughout the story. There are similarities and differences between Homer's epic “The Odysseus' ' and the Coen brother film “Oh Brother Where art Thou”. These similarities and differences can be seen within the two protagonists Odysseus and Everett, two of the antagonists, Polyphemus and Big Dan Teague, and the protagonists' wives Penelope and Penny.
There are many similarities between Odysseus and Everiit. The first similarity between the two is that they both have many qualities of leadership shown throughout the story. Odysseus is the King of Ithaca and leads his men on the journey to getting home. Everett leads his friends on their journey of escaping jail and trying to find gold. One of their differences is that Odysseus is physically strong and Everett is not. Odysseus is a Greek and athleticism and strength is very important to them. However we do not see these qualities within Everett when he tries to fight Penny’s fiance. Odysseus and Everett also have very different life statuses. Odysseus is a very valued lead and the King of Ithaca. However, Everett just escaped from jail. Lastly, Odysseus was honest to his men about their journey but Everett was not. Odysseus never lied to his men about the purpose of their journey. Everiit lied to his friend and told them that they had escaped from jail to try to find gold, however this was not the case. He just escaped from jail so he could stop his wife from getting
