During the Renaissance era there were many sculptures of David’s from the bible story of Goliath. The three sculpture that I will be writing about were the creations of Bernini, Donatello, and Michelangelo, which each sculptor was made in different part of the Renaissance. In each sculpture there are many difference when compared and there are also some similarities as well in the artist designs. The first of the three David’s was created was Donatello in the years of 1430-1432. The sculpture is made out of bronze, is naked and is a human size of 5’2”. The reason is that David’s left leg is on Goliath’s head putting more weight on the right side of the figures body causing the body to lean towards the right side. The ideal view to see that in the sculpture is the front of it. There are some other difference that is displayed between this design and the other two David’s, some are it shows different has a sword, no sling shot, Goliath’s head, and displays what happen after killing. The next of the David’s that was created was Michelangelo’s in the years of 1501-1504. The Sculpture is made out of marble, is naked and has an abnormal size of 13’5”. The proportion of this sculpture is what the Greeks ideal style, which is a muscular, strong, human-like and has no flaws at all on the body. In this David, the figure is in moment where he is preparing to kill Goliath making it serious. The type of technique that is used is a contrapposto style. The way that it applies to that type of technique is that the shoulders and waist of the David are in two different angles, which displays both tense and relaxed muscles.
