Thesis: The witches, Malcolm, and Banquo all have ambitious goals relating to the preservation or destruction of Scotland.
We all have goals, no matter how big or small they are. A goal could be to do well in school, or play on the Varsity sport team. All they way to becoming President. Some people have similar goals relating to the same topic, like designing a building. They all want the building to be finished, but they each do different parts of the job. In Macbeth, by Shakespeare, the Witches, Malcolm, and Banquo all have goals relating to the preservation or destruction of Scotland.
The three witches have the goal of destroying Scotland from the inside out. They are old ladies with beards and have power over wind and are more powerful when together. They meet Macbeth and give him these prophecies:

We know that Macbeth is the Thane of Glamis, and right after this, Ross tells Macbeth he is the new Thane of Cawdor. This makes Macbeth believe that if he kills King Duncan, he can become king, because all the other prophecies came true. Without the witches prophecies, Macbeth would have not killed Duncan. By having Duncan killed, Scotland fell from the inside out because its ruler was murdered and no one knew by who. The witches are confusing characters, and I think they might have had a bigger goal then have Macbeth be king.
Malcolm has the goal of restoring Scotland to its former state. He is the Prince of Cumberland, and would have been the next King of Scotland if he hadn’t run away to
