Society is the real monster. If the monster had not been shunned by society, he would never have become the monster. The world has turned him into the monster he knows he is. Despite his monstrous appearance, the monster was not inherently evil and only sought acceptance and love. However, the rejection and cruelty he faced from society ultimately drove him to commit horrific acts. What I have learned from the novel Frankenstein is that Victor and society were less humane than the monster. In estrangement, the monster is not offered a choice, whereas Victor is. Victor is human, as opposed to the monster, who is rejected solely based on his physical appearance; Victor is embraced by people but chooses not to be. The monster's look is simply
