“We have the oldest written constitution still in force in the world, and it starts out with three words, 'We, the people.'” said Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Our constitution has proven its merit over the centuries time and time again. However, in order to create the constitution, we follow today our forefathers had to deal with a lot of problems. The convention, among other things, focused on solving problems that would hinder the progress of the constitution’s development. The conflicts between the Northern and Southern states proved one of these problems. The North and South were polar opposites. This lead to many disagreements between the states due to conflicts of interest. In order to improve relationships, the convention had made the states compromise so that everyone would be pleased.
