The Giver is a young adult novel by Lois Lowry. The story of Jonas, a young boy who is taken from his community to be trained as the next Receiver of Memory. Jonas learns that he will be responsible for governing the society after the world ends. The Giver movie directed by Philip Noyce. Lois Lowry The Giver book and the movie are different in many ways including changing personalities, emotions and more suspense scenes to make the movie more dramatic compared to the book.
One of the differences from the movie is the different personality changes of the characters compared to the book. Because they wanted the book to be more mature. One of the big things about their lives is waiting to be given the jobs they will do for the rest of their lives. In the movie: “Number 51, Asher. Unruly, careless. Sometimes those most in need of responsibility learn best by being the practitioners of it. Drone Pilot.” Book: “''Asher.'' She lifted her voice to make the official announcement. ''We have given you the Assignment of Assistant Director of Recreation''” (Lowry 56).
