In the book, Jonas gets his first Memory. The giver places his hand on his back and he gets in this dream-like state. It’s cold. He can see his breath in the air. He can also see white stuff, or snow, fall from the sky. he notices that he is on a sled on top of a steep hill. Then the sled moves down the hill with a ton of speed. at the end of the hill snow slows the ride and the Memory comes to an end. However, in the movie Jonas places his wrist face side up and the giver holds his wrist and gets put into a memory. He sees snow fall onto his black gloves and realizes hes on a sled on a hill and holds the ropes. then the sled moves down the hill in a calm like state. then the memory comes to an end. This makes the written story better because it had a lot more imagery! It describes how steep the hill is and says that he goes down the hill fast. It describes what he feels, cold, and what he sees. They also ad some more imagery at the end saying that the snow slows the ride. The movie shoes that he had gear on. like a coat and gloves, which was never in the book. He doesn't even go down the hill that fast. Also, the book says the giver puts his hand on his back, BUT in the movie he does it on the
