When the Revolutionary War occurred, that was when America started to try and break away from Britain. With that happening, more action started to escalate - war after war along with acts being put into place, such as the Boston Massacre, Shot heard around the world, Stamp Act and Townshend Acts. The American colonists were justified in waging and breaking away from the British because it was war after war that the colonists weren’t recovering from past wars because so many of their soldiers were dying or wounded. For example, after the Boston Massacre the colonists wanted nothing to do with the British.
Two prominent political groups among the American colonists played vital roles in pushing towards a war. These two political groups are the Patriots and the Loyalists. Both groups were gearing towards war, but the Patriots was the group that was known to portray violence. With Britain raising taxes more than double within a years time, it angered Patriots. The patriots felt that the taxes just continued to threaten land ownership.
The colonists’ sense of identity and unity as Americans was further developed when they coalesced to fight the British. Many people who lived in the colonies were not English; they were German, Dutch, Swedish, Jewish, Scots-Irish, and French. Some people were a mixture of many different ethnic groups. This “mixed” group of people, which could not be found anywhere else in the world, that united to fight for their rights led to the creation of a separate identity (from Britain). The British thought that this “open Rebellion” was unjustifiable and that the colonists had no reason to turn against their mother country, who “…protected them against the Ravages of their Enemies…”
Before the revolution came to be, there were two main factions who opposed each other. on one side were the patriots, rebels to society, and on the other
really wanted to gain independence from Great Britain. There were some people in the U.S. called loyalist that wanted to live under the tyranny of Great Britain and had no problems with the raising of taxes to support their country. The Patriots on the other hand were very much against all that the British stood for. The battle of Lexington and Concord, the battle of Trenton, and the battle of Yorktown were three key battles won by the U.S. that pushed the outcome of the war in the favor of the United States. The battle of Yorktown was the most significant it was the last major battle on land and with the surrender of Lord Charles Cornwallis it was very pivotal in the defeat of the British.
During the American Revolution, there were two ends,the American Patriots who were willing to fail horrendously for adaptability, and the English Supporters who were prepared to pass on for their Ruler. The major driver that the American Patriots expected to seclude from the English was in light of the fact that they were exhausted from the unfeeling and out of line regulating given by the English. They said the English were being unfeeling and unmerited, for example, forcing charges with no political advantage. Close by this reason, there are various more factors that drove the American Patriots to leave Britain.
The word “home” is mentioned 138 times throughout Keeper N’ Me. It discusses foster homes, homelessness, Garnet’s many homes, other people’s homes and the home Garnet never thought he would find. There is a difference between a home and a house. The difference isn’t always clear to find, unlike the phrase “home is where the heart is” finding your home can be quite difficult if you don’t know where your heart lies. When Garnet joins Lonnie and his family you could say that his heart laid with them but eventually we learn that their home was not where he belonged no matter how invested his heart was in their family.
The Violent Patriots Through the many acts imposed on the colonists, the transition from obedience to violence is seen very clearly. The Sugar Act, The Stamp Act, The Townsend Revenue Act, The Tea Act, and The Intolerable Acts. These acts were the very things that shaped America and is why it is how it is today. When asked who is to blame for starting the American Revolution, it is clear through the many infringements on the colonist's rights, the British are to blame. Though, many are quick to say, the colonists were to blame due to their many terrorists like attacks towards any individuals supporting and or identifying as British instead of American.
The colonists uniting together for the good of its people created a trend in America that would last to today. Firstly, The colonists where unrepresented and uncompensated in the parliament (Assessment 1, Document 1: Ramsay). For this reason, colonists stood up for themselves against the tyranny and unfair proclamations put in place by the British. The American Revolution was a conflict fought between the American colonists and the British. The colonists were unhappy with what they perceived as a violation of their rights by the British. In events leading up to the American Revolution, the British were heavily taxing the colonists as well as neglecting them in terms of their demands and passing laws that were seemingly oppressive. The colonists who supported England were referred to as Loyalists whereas those who sought independence were known as Patriots. Between the years 1763 and 1783, the views on American independence were extremely complex as they varied depending on the time period, their religion, and where they were located.
The American Revolution was an important time for the American Colonists in their journey to becoming their own independent country. The American colonists changed their views from loyal to Britain in 1763 to rebellion in 1775 and pushed for the formation of a new government. This was caused by of the lack of voice they had in parliament, lack of rights, and violence within the colonies. When the colonists had officially gained their freedom in 1783, it started the formation of civil rights groups and activist groups that are still common and around today as well as the start to a new government. The natural rights of the colonists were first violated after the French and Indian war.
The loyalists knew what kind of punishments the British could impose upon them, having been affected by them when the patriots committed imprudent acts—for instance, when patriots decided to destroy hundreds of chests of tea at the Boston Tea Party, the Coercive Acts were passed. These loyalists have seen what Britain has done in response to these kinds of actions, and realized that Britain’s treatment of the colonies would only worsen if the colonists were to lose a war against them. They believed that they would be better off under Britain’s rule. The British wanted to continue ruling over the colonists without the loss of life or resources. On the contrary, many colonists, who called themselves patriots, wanted to break free from Britain and be recognized as an independent nation.
The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.

Let’s begin with the American revolution the conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict. After French assistance helped the Continental Army force the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781, the Americans had effectively won their independence, though fighting would not formally end until 1783.
The American Revolution (1700-1790) was a historical event in time, where the Thirteen Colonies that became the United States of America, gained independence from the British Empire. Many historians would agree that the Revolution was caused by events and the growing differences between the colonists and England. The American Revolution was a struggle by liberty-loving Americans to free themselves from a dictatorial British rule. In this period, the Colonies protested against the British Empire and entered into the American Revolutionary War, also known as the American War of Independence.
