Diigo, a social bookmarking tool, enables the author to explore, organize, store, or share material found on the internet. As a DNP educator, Diigo can be a powerful, exciting tool for connecting and collaborating with students, especially the Net Generation students. Diigo will be especially helpful during a literature review for the new development of an evidence-based lecture presentation. Furthermore, Diigo allows the course faculty to highlight valuable information on an internet page and disseminate to students for additional learning.
Thinglink allows innovative ways for visual storytelling and interactive media. As DNP leader, creating an interactive campus map utilizing Thinglink can highlight essential campus resources for Jacksonville State University (JSU) students. Facebook allows for uploading and sharing of photos, messages, and videos. Facebook is an education tool that can be utilized in higher education. A couple of ways Facebook can be utilized for baccalaureate nursing students are communication and collaboration. Each new cohort that enters JSU nursing creates a Facebook account to allow pertinent information and reminders to be communicated within the group. This type collaboration aids in building relationships between classmates, improving communication skills, and reminders for timely assignment submission. Another way for nurse educators to utilize Facebook is to post a National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCLEX) style question each day. NCLEX questions exposed the student to test taking and content on a daily basis, thus impoving success on the NCELX
