This essay will explore the ways in which important aspects of disability discrimination laws are in the same realm with feminist and communitarian theory. The essay explains how disability discrimination law accounts for distinct the relationships of individuals, validates that differences between persons, address issues of long dependency, and encourages communication between parties in order to increase equality. Disability Discrimination law usually gets confused with the traditional realm of discrimination law, but these two definitions in there on category. I shall explain both while giving better context. Second part of this essay I will begin by providing an overview of feminist theory. Feminist theory has been in the realm of social justice for decades, but just recently debuted amongst law categories, specifically disability law. A alarming number of crucial developments in disability research has hatched a new link with feminist ideals. Third part of the essay will look at domestic violence against women with a disability. According to the National Study of Women with Physical Disabilities, the appearance of abuse was not significantly different with women whom have disabilities, and without disabilities. However, women with physical disabilities were reported to have longer durations of abuse.
