Evidence Based Medicine has changed the perception of how one is able to analyse and constructively critique the health care system. This is due to the fact that as much as the information acquired is of a qualitative nature and stems from multiple disciplines. One can’t can help but see this as a blessing and a curse. Which Lambert (2006) refers to as “ the gift horse” - the benefits that are a result of Evidence Based Medicine. However, there are also disadvantages that come with an innovative idea and that Lambert refers to as the “ trojan horse”. In this essay, I will discuss what is EBM, along with its features. Secondly, how it is hierarchal in terms of how it functions. Thirdly, I will talk about how in it is beneficiary in the healthcare system, while being exclusionary at the same time. Lastly, I will talk about how EBM affected me in my own life.

Evidence Based Medicine is considered to be a “symbolic authority in decision making” (Lambert, 2006). What this means is that it it focus on the best types of healthcare systems for individuals, through incorporating uniting the best clinical experiences, along with expertise with the beliefs and values of patients. It also primarily focuses on the process validating information that is considered to be useful, instead of the outcomes of the discoveries. …show more content…

Which when it enters the computer system, it wipes out all sensitive information and is highly unlikely to be recovered.
