Module 1 Thesis and Outline Millions of middle aged people like me have decided to return to school in hopes of attaining personal satisfaction, switching careers, getting higher quality paying jobs and even climbing the corporate ladder within their current company. As a non-traditional student, I feel that I have encountered innumerable disadvantages such as age, higher living expenses, raising children and tremendous time constraints than the traditional 18 or 19 year old student who is entering college for the first time. An advantage of returning to school later in life has given me an immense sense of purpose and focus thus creating an unprecedented determination for me to stay on track and complete my degree. Having come to the realization that my children were older and the demands as a parent had decreased. I realized that I had the time and energy to devote to furthering my education. I would not only be fulfilling my desire to earn a college degree, but my parent’s dream of me earning a college education that that they had not been afforded. In the beginning, I struggled with not only doubts, but fears of not being able to pick up where I had left off twenty-six years earlier. Would I be able to withstand all of the demands of being a full time employee, wife and mother in addition to going to college? After careful consideration, I felt that online classes were the best option for me. It would allow me to work independently and at my own pace while not alienating my family
