This starts at the disappearance of Hae Min Lee, a senior who goes to Woodlawn High School on January 13, 1999. Lee was a victim using strangulation. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan was accused of first degree murder, serving 30 years + life in prison because there was a good deal of evidence that are against him. There are many opinions and theories here on whether Adnan killed her or not. Adnan is guilty for acting suspicious. For example, Adnan requested to have a ride with Lee, the day of her disappearance, his insufficient contact with her during the time she was absent and his strange actions on Cathy’s apartment that evening. First of all, Adnan is guilty because he asked Lee for a ride during school the day of her disappearance. Even though Adnan’s car is in tip top shape, letting Jay borrow his car for Stephanie’s birthday, he claimed his car had a malfunction. He could've demanded jay to pick him up, however he did not, so it's suspicious why he’d ask Lee after they've just broken up. Adnan did not even call or “paged” Lee at all. Adnan called Lee three times, the night before of her disappearance is suspicious since he did not call her the day after that. Normally, when a person is missing close to you, you wouldn't think twice to help search for them. Adnan didn't contact Lee at least once, made Koenig solicitous about it. On the contrary, some people believe in what Adnan claimed, “I get information from Aisha and other kids from school”, but this is an excuse because he wouldn't want to get involved with the murder because he knows Lee was already dead and he might be persecuted if he did
