Think back to when you were a small child, everything in the world was new, fun and exciting. You loved everyone no matter their skin color, religion or sexuality. Where did that sense of acceptance go? Why does it suddenly stop once you get older? When we were young, we would think of the world as a place where everyone would love and care for each other no matter what, why isn’t that our reality? Why doesn’t everyone get along like we thought they did?
Discrimination and intolerance to race, religion and sexuality have severely affected our world and lives. It causes major problems like war, and terrorism. It makes people discriminate against others for things they can’t control like their skin color. In God’s eyes we are all the same, why can’t we see each other like that also?

When I was seven years old, I was at the store with my grandma. We were waiting in line to be checked out, and there was an Islamic woman in front of us. She had her head dress on and wasn’t doing anything wrong. When the cashier got to her however, he was not happy to see that she was a Muslim. He looked her in the face and told her he would not check her out because she was a terrorist. The woman was shocked and didn’t know what to do. He told her that she shouldn’t even be in America and that she was probably going to bomb us. She was so appalled and upset that she was starting to cry. My grandma was not going to put up with it, and told the lady that she could pay for her items for her. Even though this act of kindness seems like something everyone would do for a person in need, it isn’t. Many people would have ignored the situation all together, and let the cashier treat the Islamic woman so poorly. The amount of racial intolerance there is in the world, is something that needs to
