During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
Prior to World War 2 Jewish people were the main family or culture that the Nazi’s been feeding off of and killing approximately 6,000 each day. Which led to 6.5 million Jews dead at the end of the war and a few survivors. Although one of these few survivors was Otto Frank, father of Anne Frank, Diarist of one of the most famous diaries, “The Diary of Anne Frank.” World War 2 was a devastating event that changed how Jews lived because because they were said to be “Divergent.” How I felt about the events covered in the Diary of Anne Frank was dramatically depressing.
Anne Frank Essay In the secret Annex you would have to be exceptionally quiet in order for anyone to know that there were people living there. The Holocaust started in 1933 and the Nazis invaded Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg etc. which made civilians go into hiding in order to not get captured by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps. In the book “Anne Frank's Diary” their family and the Van Daans go into hiding in the secret annex due to the dreadful Holocaust .
Anne Frank Compare and Contrast The Diary of Anne Frank takes place Amsterdam, Netherlands. In the book Anne and her family are Jews in World War II. Because of the oppression of the Jews, Anne and her family are forced to go into hiding. Anne, her mom Edith, her dad Otto, her sister Margot, Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel.
Anne Franks diary shows us to help and not mistreat people because of who they are or what they look like. The Holocaust was a time period during World War 2 when they killed many jews. Hitler was the main leader and his reasoning for doing this was because he thought that the jews were evil and bad. This was a horrible time period for the jews. Some of these jews went into hiding because they did not want to go to the concentration camps to be killed.
In the diary of Anne Frank, the characters hiding in the attic were under continuous distress caused by the multiple historical events that occurred during the war. Three historical events that took place during the diary were: Jewish restrictions, ration cards, and the D- Day invasion. As a result, these occurrences affected the characters in multiple ways. Jewish Restrictions were brought up at the beginning of the play, The Diary of Anne Frank. To start with Jewish Restrictions were a major event for the Jews.
The Holocaust was difficult for all the Jews. In World War II the Nazis to over Germany and other areas. Six million Jews were killed and half was kids. You see not just Anne families but all the Jews were treated wrong. All the Jews was in danger, but not these two family.
The Holocaust killed over six million jews which left many jewish people in fear that they could get taken to. In “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett followed the life of a Jewish family in hiding by telling the story through a girls diary. All the historical events of World War II affected those who lived in the annex in “The Diary of Anne Frank.” As the Nuremberg Laws are passed it stripped all German jew of their rights such as being able to ride bikes, owning business, go to normal German schools or be able to be in a government, medical, oor teaching profession and taking their German citizenship from them.
During the Holocaust, approximately seven thousand two hundred Jews escaped with the help by Danish fishermen. This means that some of the Danish helped the Jews, even though it meant for their lives to be at risk. In “The Diary of Anne Frank”, everyone did something brave or, extravagant for people during a tough time. The story talked about how people can do such a little thing, but can it can help someone out greatly, which means that ordinary people can be heroes. Although people can be selfish or greedy, people can be heroes because they help save people’s lives, they want to do something nice for someone else, or risk their lives to do something that not many people would do.
In hard times people seek out for strong relationships. During the Holocaust almost all relationships were destroyed do to the intolerance of the Nazis. Families were separated and sent to concentration camps, and most friends never saw each other again. Do to this, people were pretty much forced to make strong relationships to help them survive. Usually these relationships were stronger than their previous ones.
Anne Frank was a very energetic young girl who tended to annoy the people around her with her thoughts, and never thinks about the things she says before she speaks out. During this time, Adolf Hitler has come into power, taking jewish people and their families away from their homes, killing, starving or working them to death, that has also come to be known as the Holocaust. Due to this and Anne’s family being jewish, they take action and go into hiding in an annex above an office with one other family named the Van Daans. The main events that happen, affect
Resistance in the Holocaust It was difficult to resist oppression during the Holocaust, but some people did, both actively and passively. Active resistance is physically arming yourself to fight for something you believe in. However, many opted for passivity to fight Nazi ineffable cruelty and injustice more discreetly. In “The Diary of Anne Frank”, “Violins of Hope”, and “Resistance during the Holocaust” we read about various acts of passive resistance. People can best respond to conflict by passively resisting because such acts maintain human dignity, preserve cultures, and give the best chance at survival.
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone,death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
Every day people are judged and discriminated on the way they look, color of skin, what their wearing, and were they come from. It is upsetting how the world is today and I don’t think it will ever changed as there is always going to be that one person who is going to judge a person because of their culture,
Writing in a diary is precious, isn't it? The first time I realised its beauty I was reading The Diary of Anne Frank. Born into a Jewish family in Hitler's Germany, Anne maintained a diary during the few years she and her family were hiding from captivation. Her father, the only survivor of the concentration camp that wiped out the family, published her diary. To this day it remains a stunning reminder and a heart-wrenching portrayal of the life of a teenager in wartime.
