The movie, “42”, was about a young baseball player whose been discriminated against the people around him. He was trying to find happiness by playing baseball. Not only was he trying to find happiness, he was battling against prejudice and segregation. He had to face many challenges once he joined the major league. There were times when he wanted to give up completely, but he found the strength to keep playing and ignore what was said about him. People were amazed on how well he could play baseball. He joined Branch Rickey’s team and faced the entire world together.

In this case, Kirby Higbe became a bigot. He signed a petition that specially made for Robinson. Players on the Dodgers team would sign this petition because they felt uncomfortable whenever Robinson was around them. They felt uncomfortable playing with him. It even got to the point where they couldn’t look at him in the eyes. Some would say that the team is intimidated by him because he’s a better player than anyone in baseball. That wasn’t the case. They did not want to play with him because he was black. When players were trying to receive more signatures, one of them refused to sign. He responded, “I have a wife, a baby, and no money. He can take my spot because he deserves it.” This quote carried throughout the whole movie. Jackie Robinson earned his spot on the team because he worked so hard to get where he was. When was almost done with his home run, the officer suddenly approached him. He was screaming in Jackie’s face demanding him to get off the field or go to jail.
