On July 19, 2015 Samuel DuBose, an unarmed African American man, was shot down in his car by a white policeman after being pulled over for not having a front license plate. That was an extreme example of discrimination. In the book, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton many of the characters experience discrimination in their day to day lives. Discrimination affects many people's’ lives, but there’s not always something you can do to stop it. In The Outsiders, discrimination affects many of the characters daily lives. In the book when Ponyboy is in Randy’s car, Randy tells him exactly what will happen after the fight. “And tonight… people get hurt in rumbles, maybe killed.
