Discriminatory school dress codes Have you ever been dress coded? If you’re a boy then probably not but if you’re a girl then most definitely. School dress codes teach us that until we are women we should be ashamed of our bodies for being distractions because, the punishment isn’t the same for everyone, they don’t dress code us for appropriate reasons, and most dress codes can establish discrimination as the norm. The punishment isn’t the same for all of us. When a boy clothes aren’t fitting the dress code they are given simple solutions while girls must go home or change. If a boys pants sag then he is simply told “pull up your pants” where as if a girls pants are loose they must change. “She explained how is a boy’s trousers sag he is told ‘pull up you pants’ with no repercussion while girls are sent to the office and ‘forced’ to go home.
A guy who breaks the dress code won't have any punishment or very little, but a girl who barely or doesn't even break it will. A guy might have a tank top on with a V-neck or you can see his collarbone and …show more content…

We are sometimes deemed wearing inappropriate clothing we abide by the dress code. If you wear a V-neck shirt at a school that doesn't allow collarbones visible you'd probably be sent home if your girl. "At Woodford County High the dress code bands skirts and shorts that fall above the knee, and shirts that fall below the collarbone. Recently a picture of a female student who was sent home after wearing a seemingly appropriate outfit that nevertheless showed the collarbone." They think that very appropriate things are distractions. I have been dressed coded before because I was wearing leggings even though they were solid, black, thick, and I had an oversized shirt on.
