Before the European conquest of the Americas, the Native Americans used to be the inhabitants of the land. Native Americans as we all know have a very interesting history, from their origins to their culture, religion, and traditions. There are two major hypothetical origins of the Native Americans consisting of the Diffusion Theory and the Pangaea Theory, although no one really knows where they came from. The first hypothetical theory is the Diffusion Theory. The Diffusion Theory, or migration, states that Native Americans actually traveled from other parts of the world. Natives from North America used a technique called slash and burn to clear land for the use of agriculture. The religion of that time continued to be Nature Mysticism, worshiping of nature, but also adopted Ancestor Cult, which is the worshiping of deceased ancestors. Their Nature Mysticism belief was that the four nature elements (air, water, fire, and soil) created everything that exists and therefore believed for natural forces to be Gods and Goddesses. Shamans became the kings and queens, or leaders, of the civilizations and were seen as religious figures (theocracy). With natives becoming more “civilized” their knowledge became more advanced by coming up with what we now know as astronomy and mathematics. Astronomy is the science of celestial bodies and was used by natives to know the cycles of time and its effects, and mathematics came as a result of astronomy in a civilization from
